SlideTimer Pro v3

A countdown timer that floats on top of Google Slides, or any other page. It is running in the corner of this page right now — drag it, open the gear, make it yours.

⏱ SlideTimer

Drag this to your bookmarks bar. One click then drops the timer onto any page you are on. Whatever settings the timer has right now travel with it.

How to use the timer with Google Slides

Using it with Google Slides
  1. Open your deck in the normal editing view.
  2. Click the SlideTimer bookmark. Size and position the timer.
  3. Click Slideshow. The timer follows into fullscreen by itself.
  4. In Presenter view, click the bookmark on the audience window, not the speaker-notes window.

If the bookmark does nothing on some other site, that site blocks injected scripts. Use the pop-out button in the timer instead — it opens a small floating window that stays on top of everything without touching the page at all.

Do thisTo get this
Click the digitsType a new time: 5, 5:30, or 90s. Works while it is running.
−1m / −10s / +10s / +1mAdd or take time without stopping the clock.
GearDigit size, opacity, corners, typeface, five colors, warning and alarm thresholds, count direction, sound.
Square iconCompact mode — hides the buttons, leaving just the clock. Hover the timer to bring the buttons back, or double-click the digits.
Gear → ShapeCircle, Bar (wide and short, takes far less of the slide), or Digits only.
Drag the corner gripResize. The grip is a large target in the bottom-right corner, not a hairline edge. Double-click it to reset the size.
Gear → AlarmBeep, Horn, or Siren. Horn and Siren are considerably louder. Volume slider sets the level; Test plays it.
Arrow iconPop out into a floating always-on-top window (Chrome or Edge 116+).
Type a time, press EnterSets the time and starts the clock in one go. Tab or click away sets it without starting; Escape cancels.
Hover (or click once), then a keySpace or S start/pause, R reset, C compact mode, arrows ±1 minute. Scoped to the timer, so Space still advances your slides everywhere else.
Compact modeHover the timer to bring the bar and transport buttons back without leaving compact mode.
Why a bookmark instead of an extension

The whole timer rides inside the bookmark address, so nothing is downloaded when you click it and there is nothing for a site's security policy to block. Google Docs and Slides refuse scripts loaded from outside domains, which is exactly where a smaller loader-style bookmark would fail.

The tradeoff: the bookmark is about 37 KB, and updating the timer means dragging the button again. An extension would update itself and survive Presenter view without a second click, but it needs a developer account, a review, and approval from your district's IT if you are on a managed Chromebook.

Troubleshooting
  • No bookmarks bar. Ctrl+Shift+B, or ⌘+Shift+B on Mac. If your district locks the bar off, use the console version above.
  • The timer vanished in Present mode. Click the bookmark again while presenting. It will re-attach inside the fullscreen view.
  • No sound. Browsers block audio until you click something. Press Start once and the beeps will work from then on.
  • Timer is off the screen. Open the gear and use Snap to bring it back to a corner.
